Ocean Navigator is a dedicated magazine that focuses on offshore boating. Earlier in his career, as vice president of sales and marketing for cruising sailboat builder Pacific Seacraft, Jeff Merrill became aware of the unique perspective Ocean Navigator provides for its readers. A long-time subscriber, Jeff looks forward to each new issue — there are always a great number of interesting ideas and timely information that help keep him sharp. The magazine's readership is experienced and knowledgeable — savvy sailors — and each issue offers a great collection of timely articles.
In July of 2013, editor Tim Queeney reached out to Jeff after seeing he was presenting a seminar called “Dialing in your trawler” at the Baltimore TrawlerFest, and asked if Jeff might like to write a story on the subject for Ocean Navigator. Honored and humbled, Jeff wrote his first piece — a bundle of practical tips for the Power Voyaging column. Tim requested more, and the “Dialing in your trawler” series has become a productive creative outlet where Jeff shares the great ideas he has learned while boating with his clients.
