Introduction

The Kadey Krogen 48 North Sea design was created for the type of adventure appropriate for the name of this hull, Great Escape. The hull design was developed to first and foremost optimize comfort and efficiency underway. She has a fine entry and an equally fine return off her "wine glass" aft section — slicing through rough waters offshore and gliding effortlessly when the seas are smooth.

Her current owners have enjoyed several adventures and many improvement projects to enhance their experiences. She features the popular widebody saloon/deck arrangement which creates more interior volume in the entry level galley/saloon. The living arrangement below decks is the popular two-stateroom, two-head layout. For operations you have the choice of running her from the raised pilothouse or flybridge, both with excellent visibility.

Cockpit and Swim Platform

You can board Great Escape from the swim platform and then forward through the tall aft cockpit door. At a marina or dock, it is easier to get aboard via either the port or starboard cockpit side deck step-over doors. You are protected overhead by the boat deck above. The entire lower deck surface is teak — a quiet place to relax.

  • Fiberglass swim deck platform with folding stainless steel swim ladder
  • Teak decking
  • Lifting hatch in deck for access to lazarette below
  • Shore power connections — 50 amp for house; shore dock water connection; fresh water hose bib

Saloon

The saloon aboard Great Escape creates a very open, airy and pleasant living space. For visibility, light and ventilation there are large opening windows port and starboard as well as an opening window in the aft bulkhead. Great Escape has a roomier feel inside since she is a widebody configuration with the only walking deck to starboard. To starboard is an L-shaped settee with a teak hi-lo table; forward of the settee is a cabinet for the entertainment center. To port there are two home-style upholstered chairs. The engine room is accessed by a floor hatch forward in the sole.
