Ginard is hull 57 offered for sale by her enthusiastic owners who have just completed over two years' worth of improvements and upgrades at the renowned Philbrook's Boat Yard, LTD., in British Columbia, Canada. She was completed as a 2013 model year, commissioned in 2014, but significantly restored in 2021 and 2022, enough of a transformation to safely call her a 2013/2022.
Ordered new by an active cruising family, she was configured with many unique, practical layout improvements. Two of the most notable examples to see in her presentation are the long settee to port in the saloon, and the divided forward stateroom with two beds to port and a single berth / convertible desk office to starboard.
Underway Ginard is propelled by a John Deere 6090AFM75 325HP main engine, keel cooled with dry stack exhaust. For back up propulsion, a John Deere 4045DFM75 80HP wing engine with a V-drive transmission and independent fuel tank, starting battery, shaft and propeller. Her ABT active fin stabilizers provide a smooth, seakindly ride offshore with minimized rolling and she has Sidepower electric bow and stern thrusters to simplify docking maneuvers.
The Nordhavn 60 design has the expanded lazarette which, on Ginard, includes an impressive selection of machinery — electrical and mechanical. From first launch, she was prepared for ocean border crossings including an ASEA frequency converter to provide international shore power convenience.
Ginard was purchased in Florida during March of 2020 (as Covid arrived) and shipped by sea freight to Victoria, British Columbia where she was patiently refreshed to create a fully founded, no-screw-left-unturned overhaul prior to her homecoming in the San Francisco Bay in 2022.
In collaboration with marine consultant Steve D'Antonio, an incredible restoration was undertaken at Philbrook's. The most noticeable improvement is her Nordhavn beige Alexseal paint job. Linear polyurethane paint provides a durable, superior finish to the original gelcoat and will insure a long lasting, lustrous surface coating to preserve her beauty. Another highlight for exterior aesthetics (and minimal maintenance) is her AwlWood clear sealer on the cockpit caprail.
Once you come aboard you can start to appreciate the considerations involved in the retrofits, replacements, repairs and improvements. Every detail was scrutinized, and every suggestion was digested with most recommendations welcomed by a resounding, "YES, let's do it". The incentive in this extraordinary effort was to prepare Ginard for what was hoped to be ten years of trouble-free cruising. Sadly, after patiently waiting for over two years with eager anticipation, Ginard is finally home in Sausalito, but health issues have made the best and difficult decision to sell her in ready-to-go condition so that she can take off cruising with whoever is fortunate enough to become her next owners.
The Nordhavn 55/60 series is the most popular design from PAE with over 80 hulls built or on-order and the hull was also used to create the aft pilothouse Nordhavn 63 and Nordhavn 625 model. The Nordhavn 60 design is exceptional, but systems and equipment tire over time and with the world struggling and careers still booming, it was an ideal period in time and money well spent to make her truly, "better than new".
Upgrades and improvements
It is difficult to list every improvement and we try to avoid the word "new" in a listing write up, preferring to list the year something was upgraded or replaced. However, for Ginard, we can't help but use the word "new" in many places to reflect changes made between 2020 and 2022 (the time gap between purchase in Florida and projects completed in British Columbia to be cruise ready).
Some highlighted examples are listed below (more details in the description):
- Alexseal hull paint

Ease of operation, good sight lines and information at your fingertips are the underlying theme in the pilothouse of Ginard. Excellent visibility and an incredible selection and arrangement of mostly new navigation and communications electronics. The video and photos will show much of the improvements. Outside decks — Side deck
The widebody arrangement gives more interior saloon volume and on deck you have a starboard side walking passage from the cockpit, up the steps to the Portuguese bridge. The cockpit and side deck are covered with teak. There is a boarding door across from the saloon, stainless rails and hawse pipes. Deck fills for water and fuel are also in this area.
Portuguese bridge deck
The Portuguese bridge is a very secure location. Outboard to starboard is a hinged door that conceals a convenient "docking station" with engine and thruster controls to simplify docking starboard side to. There are two large double door storage lockers in the coaming. The centerline door is on a pantograph hinge. Aft and to port is the molded in scoop for the owner stateroom hatch.
Foredeck
A large deck area decorated with hatches over the forward stateroom and head area. There are shore power connections to starboard (upgraded to Smart Plugs). The Maxwell 3500 24V electric windlass runs 400' of chain rode attached to an 80kg Ultra anchor. A custom stainless chain stopper has been installed. The windlass foot button covers are stainless steel and you have access to the chain locker through the Freeman hatch.
Boat deck
You can go up the curved stairs from the cockpit or wrap around the Portuguese bridge deck and head aft to reach the boat deck. This is a large surface that has the tender mounted fore/aft to starboard with the Steelhead crane opposite. The Walker Bay tender and outboard have less than ten hours of run time. There is a fiberglass locker with a dinghy gasoline tank and nozzle. The Winslow life raft is mounted forward to starboard. Extra fans to extract engine room heat are ventilated through custom grills.

Flybridge
This area on Ginard is one of the most popular places to be. There are two helm chairs with a bench seating area with table behind. One recent improvement is the installation of a hard top hatch aft to port for safer access when going aloft to inspect antenna. The hard top is a great shade and rain shield. The navigation layout has been modified and improved. Your main engine controls, autopilot, bow and stern thrusters and windlass controls (plus more) are all within easy reach.

ADDITIONAL BROKER COMMENTS
Ginard is a US Coast Guard Documented vessel. The Nordhavn 60 is the most popular model in the production line for the builder, Pacific Asian Enterprises, Inc. aka Nordhavn. Approximately thirty Nordhavn 60's have been built (after over fifty Nordhavn 55's were constructed). The care and consideration to details aboard Ginard truly set her apart from other trawlers.
